Microwave and Wireless Sythesizers: Theory and Design by Ulrich Rohde,

Microwave and Wireless Sythesizers: Theory and Design by Ulrich Rohde,
Over the past decade, great strides have been made in the technology of microwave oscillators and synthesizers, with digital frequency synthesizers in particular attracting much attention. These synthesizers are now being used in virtually all modern signal generators and radio communication equipment. Until now, however, detailed information about their design has been hard to come by much of it scattered through journal articles and most books on the subject have taken a primarily theoretical approach. Enter Microwave and Wireless Synthesizers the first book to emphasize both practical circuit information from RF to millimeter-wave frequencies and up-to-date theory. Based on course material taught by author Ulrich L. Rohde at George Washington University and recent work done by the author at Compact Software, Inc. and Synergy Microwave Corporation, this volume is a complete revision and update of Rohde's landmark text, Digital PLL Frequency Synthesizers: Theory and Design. While it provides all the necessary theory and formulas, it also offers an in-depth look at the practical side of the phase-lock loop (PLL) in synthesizers including special loops, loop components, and practical circuits material that is not available in any other book. Rohde explains loop fundamentals, demonstrates the linear approach to oscillator phase noise, discusses the digital direct synthesizer technique, addresses low noise oscillator design, and provides insight into the role and design of crystal oscillators, mixers, phase/frequency discriminators, wideband high-gain amplifiers, programmable dividers, and loop filters. He goes on to cover conventional multiloopsynthesizers and survey existing state-of-the-art microwave synthesizer applications. Extensive appendices review the mathematics of useful functions and various applications, including even the complex nonlinear theory of noise in large signal systems such as mixers and oscillators.

Solid Phase Organic Synthesis by Anthony W. Czarnik,
Solid Phase Organic Synthesis by Anthony W. Czarnik,
The rapid expansion of combinatorial chemistry has renewed interest in solid-phase organic synthesis, a method that lends itself well to creating and screening large numbers of lead compounds. Solid-Phase Organic Syntheses, Volume 1 is the first volume in a series that will be updated annually, filling a gap in the existing chemical literature. Providing information previously unavailable from a single resource, this series is dedicated to providing researchers in the field with validated and tested methods for the solid-phase synthesis of interesting and biologically relevant molecules. Solid-phase methods will virtually always be invented for application in combinatorial organic synthesis. To meet these specific needs, Solid-Phase Organic Syntheses, Volume 1 focuses on a single type of synthetic transformation accomplished on solid support, and indicates how procedures are optimized to work with a structurally-wide variety of reagents. Written by recognized leaders in the field who review and test all chemical protocols before publication, organic transformations are organized by type of compound synthesized and reaction type. For the first time, experimental details for proven solid-phase synthetic molecules are collected in a single, invaluable resource. Solid-Phase Organic Syntheses, Volume 1 provides combinatorial chemists and researchers in organic chemistry and medicinal chemistry with the tools and descriptive protocols to achieve syntheses of desired compounds using a variety of solid supports and reagents.

Software synthesizer - A software synthesizer or virtual instrument is a computer program for digital audio generation. It works like a common synthesizer, but is realized entirely in software.

Clavia Nord Lead - Clavia's Nord Lead synthesizer was arguably the first (virtual analog) Subtractive synthesizer developed in Sweden. Distinctive for both its red color and knob-laden surface, it was the first in a long line of synthesizers trying to emulate the sounds of classic analog synthesizers such as the Roland TB-303 or the Minimoog, a trend that continues to this day.

DSSI - DSSI (a recursive acronym for DSSI Soft Synth Instrument) is a virtual instrument (software synthesizer) plugin architecture for music sequencer applications running under Linux. It is sometimes described as "LADSPA for instruments", LADSPA being the more general plugin architecture for filters, reverbs and other sound processing software tools, whereas DSSI is specifically for instruments.

Access Virus - The Access Virus is a German made virtual analog synthesizer which was first produced in 1997 and has since been upgraded frequently, with the company releasing new models about every two years. The latest of these is the Access Virus TI and Polar models, both of which were released in November 2005.
