Violin Family

The Art of Violin Making is a major new work for the craftsman, bringing into one volume a summary of essential information for the violin maker and player, as well as providing an historical reference. Part One: The Violin Makers is devoted to separate chapters on the life and work of some of the greatest of all violin makers; the families of Amati, Stradivari and Guarneri, and the unique genius of Jacob Stainer. These chapters include superb color photographs of examples of their work. Also included is a chapter covering the work of some leading contemporary violin makers. Part Two: The Workshop, Tools and Materials provides essential information on the tools, working environment and material needed by violin makers. Part Three: Violin Construction comprises a detailed, step-by-step guide to the traditional method of violin making, based closely on the teaching system employed at the world-famous Newark School of Violin Making in England. This section is highly illustrated with photographs, and even the newcomer to this fascinating craft will be able to produce a superb instrument.

Everyone in the Yang family is a talented musician except for nine-year-old Yingtao, the youngest Yang. Even after years of violin lessons from his father, Yingtao cannot make beautiful music. Violin family - The Violin family of instruments was developed in Italy in the 17th Century. It comprises three instruments, the violin, viola and the cello.

Violin octet - The violin octet is a family of stringed instruments developed in the 20th century primarily under the direction of Carleen Hutchins; each instrument is based directly on the traditional violin and shares its acoustical properties, with the goal of a richer and more homogenous sound. Unlike the standard modern stringed instruments, the main resonance of the body of the violin octet instrument is at a pitch near the two middle open strings, giving the instruments a more balanced, clearer sound.
