Heavy String - Heavy String production is a type of hip-hop beat making strategy featuring original composition, live strings or keys, live drums, live bass lines, and minimal use of samples. Heavy String production is recorded live using studio instruments such as the Akai MPC (Music Production Center for drums), the Roland Fantom, Yamaha Motif, or Korg Triton (studio keyboards and pianos for keys/strings), and the Korg MS2000 or Minimoog (studio bass synthesizers for bass lines).

Double bass - The double bass is the largest and lowest bowed string instrument used in the modern symphony orchestra. It is used extensively in Western classical music as a standard member of the string section of symphony orchestras and smaller string ensembles.

Extended-range bass - The Extended-Range Bass, ("ERB") as a term, refers to an electric bass guitar with more range (usually meaning more strings, but sometimes additional frets are added for more range) than the "standard" 4-string bass guitar. In practical usage, however, the term is often applied more to basses with more than 6 strings, including 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, and even 12-string basses.
